April is filled with great events for you to enjoy with TCCP!

Our own Joe Holmquist will present Things You Hit and Bang April 12, 2:00 pm at NET Studios. Joe will enlighten and delight you with the history and origins of the oldest and most varied family of instruments: percussion. You will then be able to participate in a percussion ensemble piece. This is the fourth in a series of talks presented this year in partnership with OLLI (the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) and generously funded by the Nebraska Humanities Council and the Nebraska Endowment for the Arts. No reservations necessary; the presentation is free.

Our partners at NET Radio have invited the Third Chair Chamber Players to perform on Friday LIVE, April 15 from 9:00 to 10:30 am, as they wrap up what we expect will be another successful spring fund drive. Join us in Studio One for a cup of coffee, plenty of lively conversation, and performances by TCCP players throughout the 90 minutes. If you can't be there in person, be sure to listen in on your local NET station, or catch the live webcast at

You won't want to miss the final concert series of the 2010-11 regular season, April 15 at 8 pm and April 17 at 3 pm. We have some incredible music lined up for you as TCCP presents "Winds Plus."
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov is best known for his lush, romantic orchestral works, which makes his quintet for winds and piano a wonderful surprise. This joyful and charming work is not often performed these days, so you're in for a treat!
Another seldom-performed work is the Grand Sextuor by Georges Onslow, who was a giant in his own time but is virtually unknown today. The sextet is a masterful work which combines wind instruments with contrabass and piano.
Chen Yi, one of the few composers who survived China's Cultural Revolution, made her way to the U.S. and currently teaches at the Kansas City Conservatory. Her haunting and sonorous China West Suite for marimba and piano is inspired by authentic folk melodies from her native land.

NET Studios are located at 1800 N. 33rd in Lincoln (just north of 33rd & Holdrege). We'd love to see you at all these wonderful events (or as many as you can squeeze in)!

Summer with TCCP—Concerts on the Creek

A feast for the eyes, ears, and taste buds, Concerts on the Creek are set in beautiful Cambridge, Nebraska, overlooking the scenic Republican River Valley. The breathtaking view is your first experience, followed by mouth-watering cuisine prepared by renowned local chefs (Dick Barnes in June and Matt Sehnert in July). The experience is complete when you are comfortably seated in the great hall, surrounded by incredible chamber music from the masters.

Now in its sixth season, the 2011 Concerts on the Creek are scheduled for June 25 and July 23. Tickets are $35 and include the concert, light dinner and dessert. Seating is limited, so make your reservations early! Call 308.697.3010, or go online for more information.

MONA Esprit

MONA Celebrates 100th Anniversary and honors TCCP Patron Carl "Ky" Rohman

Our good friends at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) in Kearney are celebrating the 100th year of their building and the 35th year of the museum. This year they have chosen to honor one of Nebraska's greatest supporters of the arts (and also a TCCP patron), Carl "Ky" Rohman, with their Spirit of MONA Award. The weekend celebration begins Saturday, April 16, with an art exhibition and benefit auction, and concludes on Sunday, April 17, with a champagne brunch and award presentation.

TCCP's Becky Van de Bogart and Dick Shoemaker will be attending the benefit on Saturday evening, and would gladly fill their car with others who may be interested. For more details and reservation information, go to the MONA website.
